Since 1977, the first Wednesday of May is McHappy Day! This annual event involves McDonalds restaurants in Canada giving a portion of the proceeds from various menu items (including Happy Meals) to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada operates 15 homes across Canada that provide families a place to stay while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital. We are fortunate to have one of these homes located here in Windsor, Ontario. Our home is the only home that is located on the campus of a hospital.
I am currently the treasurer of the Windsor-Essex Red Shoe Society. Our amazing board of directors will be setting up a pop-up shop again this year at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus. We will be selling McHappy Day items such as cupcakes and cookies (and hopefully some socks) for a few hours that day with proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario which supports families that attend the Windsor and London homes.
Please visit our shop on Wednesday, May 2 between 10am to 3pm and support an excellent cause!
