In this week’s blog I am going to discuss something other than tax or accounting. This year is the first time that I decided to go on a mini vacation with the family in March. Why is this a big deal for me? For the first time in 15 years I have the freedom to actually go somewhere during tax season. I had been employed by various accounting firms and taking off during busy season was not normally an option. It is tax season for my part-time practice, however, I control the hours which is great! As well, my hours as controller at Automaxx are not crazy at the moment.
Since my oldest daughter is on an extended March break, we decided to take the kids to Toronto and Niagara Falls. The itinerary for Toronto consisted of visiting the Disney store at the Eaton Centre, checking out the sharks at Ripley’s Aquarium and just relaxing at the hotel. We then traveled to Niagara Falls. Once there we went swimming in the hotel pool, checked out the falls, went to the butterfly conservatory and went for a ride on the Niagara SkyWheel. Not to mention, we went to the Hershey store for some treats (twice!).
Although it was very cold, we still had a blast. I am now recharged for the remainder of tax season!
