The initial idea of speaking at a conference was presented to me this past November. Me being a bit of an introvert, I was a little unsure and definitely needed some time to think about this endeavor. Firstly, I have never done a speaking engagement in my professional career. The only experience that I have with public speaking is doing the announcements at bowling tournaments. In one-on-one situations I am pretty confident that I can deliver my message to clients. However, large groups are a different animal.
I accepted this challenge as I believe that there is an interesting message to deliver. It also helps that I have received some awesome advice from a client of mine who has done a few speaking engagements that I am going to use to my advantage. There are still a lot of entrepreneurs and small business owners that are not familiar with cloud accounting and its benefits. I will also get a chance to network with other individuals in the community.
As well, Nick Russell of Russtek Media and Nichole Howson of AIM Social Media Marketing have been very supportive and have given me guidance when needed. Will I be nervous that day?
