Disney knows the value of their experiences!

For those of you that have been following me for a while on social media you will probably realize that my family loves to vacation in Walt Disney World. This past week my wife and I were back, but this time kid free! I know I have blogged about Disney in the past and I want to talk again about what they do to create an amazing customer experience.

The first thing that is very obvious about Walt Disney World is that it can get very expensive. However, all four of the Walt Disney World theme parks ranked in the top ten in attendance worldwide. Magic Kingdom had an annual attendance of over 20 million people in 2018. That tells you a lot of people are willing to pay to attend Walt Disney World theme parks.

Why are people so willing to pay to go to the Disney theme parks other than brand recognition? I personally think it has to do with how people value the customer experience being provided. For example, this week I went into Oga’s Cantina at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A Star Wars specific cocktail costs at least $15 US. Expensive, but it is the experience of drinking the beverage in a Cantina modelled after the one featured in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. It felt really authentic and it was a very rare experience where I was willing to pay for it.

If you can create an outstanding customer experience as a business owner, your customers will see the value and pay you accordingly for your product or service.
