It was not long ago that my website received a new look with a superhero front in centre on the homepage. I will admit that the website probably didn’t need the update as everything was fairly current, but I got a great idea to make the page more personal and cooler looking as accountants do not have to be boring. I am going to take a line from Luminari where they say “Make CPAs cool again!â€
I was scrolling through Instagram a few months ago where I noticed that one of the accounts that I was following, David Duke, did a lot of comic book art. I entered one of his giveaways where he was giving away a comic book cover art piece, and I happened to win. I had him draw me a Spiderman cover, which I absolutely love and have since hanged in my office. The really cool thing about this sketch is that he added a personal touch, my Oldridge Accounting logo to the top of one of the skyscrapers. That whole experience got me thinking, what if I contracted David to create an original superhero for the website? We pretty much hit it off during our meeting and I knew that he would deliver something epic!
David created a superhero with my likeness, okay maybe just the head. He also created an awesome background of the waterfront along the Detroit River where the peace fountain is located. I then handed these off to Nick Russell of Russtek Media to work his magic. He suggested removing the clutter and make it more personal since I am promoting myself. The website is still professional, but it is now more focused and has my personality and I am extremely proud of it.
